How Many People Can be Fighting at One Time? Take EverQuest for example, you can have like 26 people going to fight an Elemental God or something, and the Same thing in World of War Craft. So, how many people can you have, to team up against...anything? If this could be answered by someone who has actually played Guild Wars, that would be alot of help.

That depends. In Player vs Player, 16 people can fight at the same time.
In Player vs Everything, the number of players goes to 6 (at least now).

I do understand what your saying, but in the game, can you just be walking around, find a bunch of other players, and then go do whatever you do?

Let me explain.
In the game, the cities are where all players can gather, converse, barter and create parties. When a party ventures beyond the city limits, they find themselves in the wilderness. The wilderness is instanced which means you won't see other players than in your party.
There are 'outposts' as well as public areas before each cooperative mission where you can see the other players.
Also in the Arena you may fight another party.

Yes you can and its not like Everquest where pick up groups are a pain in the ass to get. Where you spend hours looking for the cleric or whatever. Guild Wars when you finish a mission it opens up other parts of the map for you to explore/progress. In these area's there are always people lfg for the same thing you are. Of course if you cant find a Monk or whatever you need there are the AI controled henchmen to fill in for ya.

Ok, I beleive I see now. So basically, there will be certain spots and places in Guild Wars where you do see others like yourself running around talking and everything. It's only when your with a group, or party during a mission or something where you don't have anyone running around besides you and your party. (Correct me if i'm wrong on that.) Ok, another question, since we are talking about groups. Is there any limit to how many people you can travel with?

As I said, the player limit is 6 at the moment. However if you are a ranger and you have a pet, the pet does not count as a follower. In fact, if all 6 of you are rangers, you have 6 players and 6 pets.

Oh, so you can travel with 6. Dang, I was hoping it would be more. Is there also a limit in how many people can be in a Guild?

Actually the current limit is 8.
Some of the later Missions suggest/require 8 team members.
All of the Guild-vs-Guild battles suggest/require 8 team members.
"Tombs" suggests/requires 8 team members.

(In Tombs there are some 8v8v8v8 maps.)

The earlier Missions start as low as 4 team members and add 2 as the difficultly progresses.

The "Arena" is currently based on 4 random team members per side.

Ok, srry to be a pain but you guy's are getting me confused again. Ok, from my understanding this is an Online Game right. If so, won't it let us travel through different worlds, meeting other members, and taking on missions in a Guild or Party? Why would an online Rpg, have King of the Hill? That is for something like Halo, or Shadow Ops. I wonder, how many of you think this game is going to be better than Everquest, and Warcraft? From what i'm hearing, I do not think so! Why would an online game limit the number of players in your party, and why would the game limit how many people are in a Guild, escpecially since this game is called Guild Wars?

Well let me just say. I was a die hard EQ fan. I played for five years, top guild, top gearx 600+ aa's, the works. Its hard to grasp the diffrence from EQ and GW unless you try it out. Personly I tried out GW and fell in love with it.

Answer to that is YES. Thats what its all about. Missions are set up like LDON's in EQ. Grab a party and its instanced for you. More so then EQ even. Diffrence is the missions PROGRESS the Guild War's story line...open up more and more missions and area's to explore. But there are alot of places to set up and barter and interact with the server in a whole.

Well guilds are diffrent then you are use too im sure. Guild War's isnt a "raid" game. Guild's come into play with the PVP side of the game, "King of the Hill". My guilds better then yours kinda thing hehe. Of course you can do missions with guildys, pvp, hang out together ext ext.

In Guild Wars everything is instanced except the towns. You cannot wander around exploring and run into people in explorable areas, since the area you are in is reserved for you and your party (up to 6 at the moment). There can be multiple instances of an area so don't worry about having to wait for an area to clear. Missions are the same way. You get a party together and enter the mission. There will be no one else in your instance of the mission, although multiple parties may be doing the same mission. Missions are not setup like WoW where you visit a guy and take a quest from him (although there are some quests like that). The main missions are linear like a story and completeing one unlocks the next.

Towns are not instanced although they do have more than one district if there are enough people. If your friend is in another district, it's easy enough to switch to that one.

The reason they did all this is to avoid the pains of player killing and kill stealing that happens in most MMORPGs.

The king of the hill part is in PvP (player versus player) where 2 or more team fight for control of map (KotH being one of them) for the chance to move on.

What online RPG have you played that doesn't limit the number of people you can have in your party? Both Everquests do, World of Warcraft does, DAoC does, and nearly every other RPG I've played does as well.

Most of them also limit the number of people that can be in a guild. Granted, it's usually higher, but there's no real need for enormous guilds here. And what does the 51 member limit on guilds have to do with the name being accurate? We have Guilds and they have Wars with each other. I'm pretty sure that's all the game needs in order to live up to the title.

As for game types like King of The Hill and such only belonging in first person shooters... Try thinking outside the box a little, man. Why shouldn't an online RPG implement fun PvP games that require something other than zerging out the other team?

I think your problem is simply that you haven't played the game. The joy that is Guild Wars is difficult to explain without experiencing it firsthand. Get yourself a beta key (there are plenty of ways to do that, if you look around) and participate in the next beta test on March 18'th. Take some friends with you, if you can. I'm willing to bet that you'll like it.

Ok I think I get it. Your right, Everquest did limit you did'nt. So let me ask you Sinfear, are there also Raids in Guild Wars and are they limited to 52 or something like that? I Hope so. That will raise it's popularity with me definately and it has not even come out yet!

Ice Heart, I think if you maybe download some of Kunt0r's movies here, you might gain an understanding of the way that PvP battles work... or at least look like.

There are no "Raids" so to speak, but in some Guild vs. Guild maps, you are attacking the other team's Guild Hall... which is better and more controlled, if you ask me.

I don't think that Guild Wars is trying to BEAT World of Warcraft or Everquest 2... rather just take some of their market share and also appeal to those who are fed up with paying every month and having to level up for hours and hours and HOURS. I think they're totally different games looking for a similar audience, comparing them is not worthwhile.

As of yet? No, I dont think there is any "raid content" in Guild Wars that I know of. Although the game is still in beta so who knows what they will do/add in the future. EQ only had, what? Four raid events befor kunark expantion? Nag,Vox Inny, CT? Only one's I can think of anyways. I hope Guild Wars add's raid events in the upcoming expantions. it would give guilds something else to do besides PvP in my opinion.

You should go out and spend five bucks and preorder the game so you can try it out in the next BWE.

Guild wars is much more like Phantasy Star Online then EQ really...

I mean the EQ age is obvious as PSO is more future set... But the game play is very PSO style. Community in towns only, Parties, missions, quests, group vs group... ect... PSO is still considered a very successful model though it is Pay to play... Hopefully GuildWars will find continued success on their variation of this model, and be able to expand on it. For instance guild mission builder, or something like that. since the missions are hosted Peer to peer and not from a centralized server this MAY be possible. same with custom quests if you think about it. A very good possibility for expansions in the future.

We have already been doing this of sorts with guilds. sending members out in parties to find stuff and bring it back to the guild for one reason or another. normally for making charms... Resurrect and Charm Animal seem to be the two most popular ones everyone wants. When a party gets an item they guild message "mission complete" and we head back to do what is needed for them. Easy as that...
